^ That was the part that tripped me up at first, you need to be almost standing on top of the banker for the beta buff to work.

Greetings Norrathians!

Is it comepletely outrages to think that people playing here acctually just love playing good old EverQuest Classic (+ Kunark)..? Hell, I love the true EQ Classic (Vanilla if you like) with no Kunark. Is it not the essence of the ”Project” - a dream of playing EverQuest while it was cool and just keep it at that?


Some side questions just out of curiosity:

Will Project1999 haft to change name now..?

Will it stop with Velious or is the plan to try make some kind of dejavuu and try recreate Sony's work by dumbing EQ down one expansion at the time? There will come a time where someone gets bored with Velious and scream for SoL, PoP, GoD ect. ect.. Hell, maybe Project1999 can even catch up with Sony and make some sort of weird parallel server to current Live EQ with 25+ expansions. Ohh and someday some cool nostalgy people (like I really think you the staff of this project is) can make a Project1999ofProject1999 :-)



These are just the first questions that came to my mind with this forced beta thing and as I hate being forced to anything here in life that made me make my first post on this forum. No hateing just a lot of questions that came to my mind! :-)

And Im just not convinced that it is acctually ALL, that some claime, that wants Velious.


Peace out and I will keep loving and donating to the Project1999, but while you all rush to Velious I enjoy my beloved Norrath with no Lizards expect those in Lost Temple of Cazic Thule :-)

PS: If I can just share one wish, please never ever repeat Sony's biggest mistake of all and start revamping old zones! :-D

I'm pretty sure it stops at velious. I think when 99% of people talk about Classic EQ they mean the "original trilogy" (vanilla, kunark, velious). There must be very few people who straight up have a strong preference for vanilla and only vanilla. After all, the design direction of EQ changed very little between the 3 expansions, with them only adding content rather than dumbing the game down.

So, let me get this straight. This is a forced test of an expansion that released post 1999. It is being done over a long weekend. And finally, no experience gains will be saved.

As a level 15 what am I supposed to test? If dying works in the new zones? Why is Velious even been deployed on a server called project 1999? And finally, why is this being done over the worst possible time: a long weekend?

I really really don't understand anything about this decision.

Obviously I failed the IQ test, I have tried to use one of my existing characters on Blue DISCONNECTED
made a new character on Blue DISCONNECTED
logged into red server and type /beta /beta on a lvl 1 character I had there and got the message that says it works "get to testing" but where is the copy of this character, not in my list on the Blue server
????

Everything I have done so far only results in me being disconnected, wanted to try to help test this but I missed some memo or maybe it was not for everyone like I thought.

I see, the secret is to come here, post a message making you look like a dork and then you can see that you are trying to log into the wrong server, you should be logging into the BETA - Velious Preferred Server. And there are all those characters I created in my abortive attempts to log into the Blue server. FML

Probably because the server population as a whole has made a piss-poor beta testing effort, as if there is someone else who's going to do it for them.

The server staff has been asking the regular players -- most of which have been complaining about wanting velious for literal years now -- to get on beta and test things. A couple of hundred out of a few thousand that likely play here have contributed. Devs need data to make sure shit works properly, and an inside team of a dozen people is not going to get it done.

Are you level 15? Do you feel like your presence on beta makes no impact, because you're not killing dragons? Think of it this way: Even if you just log on and sit there, at the very least, you're stress-testing the hardware.

tl;dr: They need everybody they can get to log on and just do stuff. Now go do stuff!

It's meant to do that. You will get disconnected after making your toons on blue (or trying to log on to them).

Now log back in, click on the velious beta server, and you'll see them on the character select screen. Log in, target one of the mutant large gnomes, and /say Beta buff me.

Velious is the last planned expansion, its important to all of us that it is pristine. theres a reason no other eqemu server has ever had a legit classic Velious.

Velious is 35+ content anybody of any level can beta test Velious. there are NPCs for levels, factions, gear, ports, literally anything u could want to make it easier to test.

dont feel like testing? go outside.


but dont come here and cry that a bunch of volunteers that do this as a hobby in their spare time, are asking the people that benefit from that work to also chip in a bit of time

My only concern with the forced Beta is that there seems to be a lack of direction. If you want things tested let us know? I am sure there are things you know are correct and somethings that are not. More involvement with your community can produce better results!!!

There has been plenty of direction, check the velious area of the forums.

But this weekend, we just want you to play in velious, do anything and take note of things that seem odd or not right.

Spell animations, cast times, mob resists, EVERYTHING!!!
