I uninstalled Duxas UI and haven't had the issue since, could this be UI related...?

I doubt that. I've had it off-and-on since long before I started using Duxa. Network issues exacerbate it, including local shit like wife and kids killing my bandwidth by streaming video on the wifi (my connection is wired but all go thru the same router), but I've had the client crash or lock up even when nobody else is competing for bandwidth locally.

All of the following occur at random intervals (zoning includes entering game from char selection and camping to char selection from ingame):
  • client crashes zoning
  • client disconnects zoning and dumps me at the login/password screen
  • client disconnects zoning, then reconnects after some arbitrary delay (i.e. I finally zone after 1 to 5 minutes but I'm out of group and groupmates were notified that I had gone linkdead)
  • client hangs just before it loads zone files (i.e. no progress bar)
  • client hangs when it attempts to load in (i.e. after progress bar full, other people will see my char with no level info and unknown zone on a who all).
BTW, as far as I can tell the client/server hang states never time out. I walked away in disgust once when my client locked up entering game from the char select screen. When I came back about three hours later and killed client with TaskManager I had to wait out a minute's worth of 1018 errors before the server would let me log back in.

If server population is high (> 1000) these failures are more common, but it doesn't seem to matter what the zone population is. That is, I seem to be no more likely to have a problem entering EC than any other zone. Worst case is server pop > 1000 plus heavy demands on my wifi/lan by other family members, I've had play sesions where I crashed, disconnected, or hung, roughly half the times I zoned, just getting ingame from the login screen can take 6+ attempts.

This is happening about twice as often since the patches this week. I can't help but believe it's related to the p99 client modifications. I'm running p99 on WinXP on an old single-core Athlon system with NVidia 7600GT graphics, you know, just the sort of system the titanium client ran on back in the day. Very frustrating.

I have also been crashing frequently, maybe once per day, as of a week or two ago. I use Duxa and some improved Walls/floors install. But Ive had both for months and the crashing has just started as of a week or two ago.

This happens to me every time I play. I've tried wireless, wired, Linux, Windows, different hardware, different installs... I think it's almost definitely networking related. It's incredibly frustrating not being able to zone 50% of the time, having to end task, restart, try to log in, crash, restart, then get in again (needs an extra cycle for some reason). Every other time I zone.

It's a real shame they don't make this more reliable/resilient. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Honestly i put it being on the cable company and no p99. It will stop for you eventually with no changes to p99.

I don't have cable, I have DSL, and it happens on a fiber connection too at work.

i'm in the same boat. I get a number of the following problems and i'm running a Intel Quad Core with Time Warner connection from Upstate NY. Keep in mind that in a 20 minute time frame I can get ALL of these.

Sever screen blank 2-20 times.
System may be down for scheduled maintenance
Cannot connect, may indicate loss of connection to patch server
Client crashed from character select 2-4 times.
An unknown error has occurred while trying to join the server.
2-5x increased loading zones. (I generally out zone any and everyone with very few exceptions on red99)
When I do get logged in, ping still the same ~55-63ms

I can also go hours with having none of these issues.

I've been having similar issues on the win8 laptop Ive been using lately: lag, server select list not showing and crashes on zoning. The lag I do not have An ms for but noticed it in delay of spells being cast, the server select issue comes up about 1/3 tries, and crashing about 1/5 times zoning

Do not have these issues on my desktop (Linux); also 2 laptop is on wifi soo might just be something with that for me /shrug
