I think it's very obvious that the best players in their classes at the time won their BotB. I don't think any final went 2-1. Zephany even did it without her epic, against far more heavily equipped TMO and BDA.

1) structured pvp with specific rules doesn't equate to best, pretty sure I'm uniquely positioned to prove that

2) not having a Mage epic was beneficial for the botb because you had the ability to summon a better pet with the pre-epic focus staves, every single Mage that had an epic was punished in the botb
