If interests are not the same, why do we think pay should be the same?

Turn this around. Why should two people with otherwise identical resumes who are hired for an identical job receive different pay for the job?

This doesn't happen. It doesn't happen because there aren't two identical people like this. If this did happen, why wouldn't the company then hire the one who takes lower pay?

It's a hypothetical. And apparently, women largely disagree and would say that this very thing happens all the time.

But you're saying the gender pay gap is a myth, right? So how would you tell women, on the whole, that they're wrong about it?

The pay gap has been proven time and time again to be about hours worked and field of work. Women tend to take up jobs where the pay is less. They tend to work less hours due to the following. If you're a woman and you have kids, you will work less and you will lose out on advancement simply due to missing work.

But a hypothetical daughter tells you she wants to be a Software Developer - or a Garbage Collector - or a Soldier - you gonna tell her she shouldn't because those jobs were historically mostly occupied by men?
I think the problems with federal goverment is, I have never even met someone that would do that let alone think it's an issue that ever happens.

Because one asks for more.

Take any two candidates, and that's the way it be, full stop. Nothing else is involved.
