Glad you found your way here! You're going to love P99. It's a good community too.

That's another reason why I'm making the switch from the Live servers, the community. I hear the community is amazing. One of the first things I did on the Live servers was check out Freeport and the Commonlands (you know, my old newbie stomping grounds) and what I found was sad... the zones looked completely different and there was NO ONE....not a soul, at the tunnels. I think I died a little inside [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

The population here is like a happy medium between the oft-overcrowded zones of classic Live and the ever-deserted zones of present Live. There aren't nearly as many noobs in CB or Blackburrow, and you won't see 100+ people in DL, but as was mentioned above, the population is healthy enough that you should have little trouble finding groups. I haven't grouped since the low 20s, but I leveled up to that point mostly grouping in Blackburrow and Unrest. Each weeknight those zones would often times have 10+ people and finding a group was no problem. In a way this slightly reduced population from classic Live is actually better because you have more of the zone to yourself. In classic Live, I would join a Blackburrow group and be confined to camping the green room, for example. But on P1999, Blackburrow groups will usually just plow through the whole zone. In Unrest, a main room group can usually kill non-stop instead of sitting around waiting for limited respawns. My main is only 47 and I have been exclusively soloing from 20+, so I can't comment on grouping at higher levels, but I really enjoyed grouping at lower levels here.

The view of the tunnel/T1 just now - not peak time yet, it'll be way more populated in about 5 hours :P

Ahhh that's how I remember it [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I can't wait to get home and get started on this. Another quick question: How populated are the newbie dungeons? On the Live servers they were completely dead and I pretty much solo'ed Crushbone (and still handed in the belts knowing they wouldn't give much exp but I did it anyway) ...I hope there's enough people to at least find a group with [You must be logged in to view images. The mainstream path of progression follows pretty much a set path as far as dungeons go. Unrest, MM, lguk or sol b, then the normal 50+ kunark dungeons. However people do go other places like CB, oasis still gets alot of love, lake of ill omen you can usually find a ledge group or people to make one. there are a few other hot spots but i can't think of em atm.

Awesome, looking forward to it!
Now, I just have to decide on what class and race I'm going with for my first char... Thinking Iskar Monk or Human Monk (being an evil race probably isn't the best choice for a newb like me) or a Dwarf Warrior

Yes, you may want to choose good race for first character just until you get your feet wet, it's a lot easier when you can bank, etc everywhere.
