This can also occur when I try to cast Minor Illusion on myself without being near an object that I could copy. Treeform seems to work the same way when you are not near any trees. Other people see your bigness tho, and they will probably comment on it =)

without a guise and whether your around trees or not, you become a large halfling with treeform, recasting solves this problem and you become a tree even if you havent moved toward any trees

and I do not believe minor illusion nor treeform should work differently as per your proximity toward trees at all, it just depends on the zone your in

If someone zones in after you cast a racial illusion, you will appear to them as a small medium or large version of the racial illusion depending on your actual race.
