My EQ Live main was a necro for a long time. I Preferred Mages...
Reason beeing, if you are going to kite they are your best friend. Summoned pet toys, another pet, nukes... Necros don't need regen! They have lifetap...

Default Shaman

Shaman hands down is the best partner for a necro. Massive dots. At later levels they both have pets which makes fear kiting a breeze. Can heal regen canni their mana so you dont have too much downtime. Buff the crap out of both pets and just go to work. I think those two classes were designed to duo with one another. I dont think there is any duo more efficient than the shaman and necro. Not sure what dots stack on this server but its easy enough for teh shaman to use their poison and disease while the necro uses darkness boil blood and leech line. More than enough to handle just about anything that is snareable. No better duo in the game

I also have to say shaman. The Shaman is kind of the "BASF" of Everquest. They don't make the group, they make it better, whether it be a full group or a duo with pretty much any other class.

Necros bring great DPS, Snares and pets. Shaman bring debuffs (resist debuffs and slows,) buffs, Healing, DPS (DoTs/Nukes) and SoW to the pair. Both have their own mana regen methods, so they don't need to go begging for caster crack (heck I used to take over for healing from OOM clerics who had KEI while I was only self-buffed on my old Shaman main characters.)

if you continue with the trio, a shaman, necro, and chanter would be pretty disgusting. Another DoT to throw on top, Clarity, slows, speed/melee buffs for the pets, wis/int buffs for the casters, CC any adds.

Oh, yes.

Guys... really no other Bard fans?

Bard = no mana aoe fear, no mana snare, no mana dots, manasong, no mana mez, charm, ressists, selos...

Not to mention bard regen songs more than keep up with necro illusions.

What my friend and I do is mostly just snare kite, and have the bard keep the aggro. Takes 0 mana and you can do it all day. ( even indoors ) Another thing you can do is double charm in LGuk, just have the necro spot heal and the bard play regen songs in-between charm breaks.

never duo'd with a necro back in the day, but from what I know of the songs, a Bard would certainly not be a BAD partner, that's for sure.
