Procedure for exploit watching is to pop in first unhidden, which I'm sure Amelinda had done. So chances are, she already had plenty of first hand evidence, all parties involved written down, and the punishment already determined. At that point she will go visible, which is basically the "You're fucked" moment.. Gating like she didn't see you is pointless, she was probably sitting there watching for several minutes already.
