PvP event - have a couple zones that would attract different level ranges with no pvp exp loss for a day or two. It would attract a lot of people that want to fuck around in pvp without a loss in exp.

PvE event - if you do have certain mobs spawn in zones maybe you could have some items that only work for a week and then are taken out. Maybe some cool illusions, port potions, whatever you want, as long as they only lasted a limited time and didn't screw people over long term for not attending the event.

But if your question was really asking whether it is acceptable to use them in all circumstances, then I have to say firmly that, no, it isn’t, not yet anyway. They are definitely informal and they should still be avoided

Also, I blame Steve Jobs for this.

While i am ignorant on the coding aspect of the game i think a fun even would be as follows.

- Spies of Norath,
Your home town has been plundered and top secret info has been stolen ! Track down the player who stole it, kill them and return the plans to your town !

In this event, every time a player is killed they have the chance to drop a no drop letter, this letter is top secret information that has been stolen from the looters home city. Make this letter rare so you have to kill like 10-15 players to get one, and such that trying to exploit it would result in the loss of a few levels. Letters can be turn in to new npc's in your home town for some loot, lets say 4 npcs pop each one gives a different reward for each letter so you can choose Caster gear or melee or whatever. Loot is NO DROP and basically a clone of current items in the game but with a new name (and maybe a tiny stat increase), IE you could copy of a mith 2 hander or SMR, with a fancy name and 3 more dex =D, no drop keeps it from being exploited. Maybe add an in game title for whomever returns the most plans or is the first to return a letter.

I think this is fun because you must kill other players ! (find the spy who stole your towns top secret plans and return it and claim your right as hero)

Make it so only a few zones are turned on for the drop, lets say WC to Oasis or Gfay to SF so players of all levels are packed into a few zones

Just an idea, tweak as needed.

I would like to suggest a "Rift" type event ( not sure if you can spawn "portals") but just have giant god like mob spawn in (preannounced) zones. that require 20+ people to kill ? you know some good ol' epic god shit.

Rewards without power:

Titles
Illusion Clickies
Open Fear.
etc...

The halloween event in EK was pretty crazy. Half of the server packed into a few zones.

I ran a few events when I was GM on VZTZ. These were lame/smalltime compared to what was on live (or here), but the two events that everybody seemed to like were:

1.) On Easter I summoned "Jesus" (zombie NPC) who had all kinds of AoE abilities and healing spells. I guess this would qualify as a PvE raid encounter.

2.) Catch The Bard. There was a high level bard on the server that everyone hated - his name escapes me - and I enlisted him to participate in this event. I buffed him with everything and broadcasted that the first person to kill him would get a blue diamond. He did his part and managed to stay alive for almost an hour running across the world before someone finally killed him.

The one that I regret doing was a FFA PvP rumble. The zone ended up crashing. People broke rules. People started killing eachother when they weren't supposed to when we were organizing it. Etc. I think those large-scale PvP events are a lot of fun but you have to prepare for the shit to hit the fan anytime you gather 50+ people together in the same tiny zone on a FFA red server.
