I never understood this carpal tunnel shit. I hit hotkeys more often playing any melee with an attack skill, or any class in any newer MMORPG. Playing a rogue, you'll often be spamming the backstab key because staring at your hotkey bank all the time to get backstabs off the split second it comes off cooldown usually isn't an option. On a bard, you only have to click something every three seconds, and there's a casting bar right there to tell you when to do it. I've been a gamer for like 10 years, playing just about anything including most major MMORPG titles. Never had any kind of physical problem from hitting keys too often, and EQ bards are one of the least stressful classes as they literally don't have anything that can be spammed without delay.
Neither have I. I'm fairly certain it's a story from live where some dude probably posted about it on forums somewhere and everyone just ran with it and gave it their own twist: "BARD TWISTING CAUSES CARPAL TUNNEL. FACT". In all honesty I click a fuckton less twisting songs than I do playing something lol LoL or starcraft where you are constantly clicking and moving. The only time I've ever experienced any pain from this game was when I was AE kiting and running in a tight circle for 10-15 minutes holding down 'w' while tapping 'd' with my left hand.

tl;dr
1. pretty sure any actual gamer is MORE than ok with the amount of clicking it takes to twist songs every few seconds
2. its probably an old wives tale of the eq community
3. etc

Carpal Tunnel isn't really caused by pressing a lot of buttons alone (although if you used to type like you're trying to kill a small animal like me, you can definitely get pain in your hands doing that alone). It's caused by poor hand positioning relative to the keyboard among some other things.

Making the same hand movements over and over, especially if the wrist is bent down (your hands lower than your wrists), or making the same wrist movements over and over.
So your wrist positioning is more critical than how many buttons you press.

this pretty much. I played a bard to 16 or so before I quit.

I press far more buttons as a shaman than any bard has to. Anyone who quits bard because it's too many buttons to press should probably just play a wizard or cleric.

Anyone who says that you don't have to press many buttons as a bard or that you press more buttons as another class, you are simply out of your tiny little minds.

I know with 100% certainty that anyone that says this has never, ever, EVER played a bard to a level past 6.

I played a bard to 70. Your certainty measure is inaccurate.

My wrists ache almost every day. I work with a keyboard and mouse all day. I play a monk and a bard again. Key to avoiding this problem is movement. Slide your keyboard 5" over every 30 mins or so, to the left or to the right. Put something under your keyboard to raise it up. Just keep switching it up and it helps lots. Still, if I sit n' play for 5hrs or so, monk, bard, whatever - I get some aches.

Bottom line:
Suck it up Nancy!

Here's a good one for a bard or any other class for that mater . Also its great while playing FPS games like MW3 because you can switch weapons so fast it's great.

Yeah, I'm using the original, I actually use it more in LoL and FPS than MMOs, with MMOs it's cooldowns on my mouse and everything else on my gamepad.
