like, what are you putting him on when he re-raises you on flop? a higher pp? a straight draw? like what straight draw could he have there that he's playing pf and now re-raising you on flop with? dunno, got assume a set there tbh imo

i won't hate on anyone playing ANY hand preflop -- there's the metagame and there's trolling in poker too, zero probs with that. just don't be a bitch when your troll doesn't work out

100% agree. teh fuck. i could see dropping ante on pocket 8s for the flop, but unless you were a blind, you should have peaced out. damn chasers like you fill my pockets up at the Woods. <3

speaking of a bad beat...

i was at the black jack table at the gata saturday night, playing the anchor:

bet 300. I get a 7/3, dealer shows a 6.

doubled down like a boss to $600, got a 10, sitting pretty with a 20 against a 6.

lo and behold, dealer has a 5, and gets a 10 for 21...nothing i could've done there..left a sour sour taste in my mouth.

He could be protecting his BB against a cutoff/button raise. It all depends on the players, and the stacks behind them I suppose.
Also, there was no flop re-raise, OP bet out of position trying to represent an 8 (possibly?), got raised, and called not wanting to seem weak and hoping to steal it on the turn by firing a second bullet.
There's a few ranges of hands you can represent on a 8-9-9 flop especially if 8 and 9 are suited. Q-J same suit with the 8/9 on the flop, Q-10 same suit with the 8/9 on the flop, or any combo of flush/gutshot straight draw, and with the 10 on the turn his hand arguably got better. The problem he is that it's tough to play these hands out of position, and especially on a floped pair board.

That 2-3o story though, is another matter altogether heh.
