Melee seemed to work for me when both parties were completely under water. But when I was knee high in water (as an ogre) attempting to attack a halfling who was swimming in this knee high puddle, melee was borked.
If this is classic, too classic IMHO. GL pvp'n in swamp/guk.

IDK how it was back in the classic days, but I do know that melees cannot attack people swimming in a deep swamp, or shallow swamp for the midgets. Not sure if this affects the ocean in other zones, going to test that now.

two things about "water LoS" need to be treated differently than regular LoS. for melee, the water surface should not matter/should not break los. and for spellcasting, it should cast the spell, at full range, but when the spell lands give the "no affect" message.
right now LoS for spells works so that if you don't have LoS when you finish the cast, the spell will get a reduced range, but still go through. this was so that casters could fight ppl in dungeons. that is fine for dungeons imo but not for water. water needs to be treated differently

oh shit yeah it's supposed to be the other way around, spells get owned by water, melee doesn't

From my experience you can't nuke people that are in the water if you're on land. Same deal if you're in the water and the player is on land. But if you start casting the spell when both are on land and the player jumps into the water then it will still hit, just like it does when you walk around a corner.

Do a real test to prove your point or its just white forum noise.
