Had to be some time after Planes of Power, pets dont zone with you on Al'kabor.

The strength of the mage (and im paraphraseing a EQ developer from way back with this) is their ability to "set themselves up" before hand with numerous summoned items and their pet.

Think of the mage in pvp more as static zone defense, not hunter/seekers.

Mages (and their pets) on Live are disgustingly overpowered. BUT, this did not start to happen until the tail end of Planes of Power when the pets got beefed up.

That reminds me, on the p99wiki under mages, it claims the wizard firepets in the 50's can cast lvl "40+" wiz spells. If that is the case...

Until the very end of 2003, mage wizard pets (even the lvl 63 spell one!!!) NEVER cast a wiz spell higher then 29. Trust me.. I know..

edit/p.s.: I asked this before and did not get an answer, CAN you cast invisibility on other players outside of group on p99? And if so, does this still cause your pet to die? (both was yes in 1999)

Lots of things fuck classic PvP up. It's retarded that clerics have purely magic-based spells with no resist modifier, it's retarded that rogues are nearly useless in most environments, it's retarded that wizards have nukes as big as most people's total HP... but it's classic. Complaining about it isn't gonna help. The whole point of these two servers is to stick to classic, for better or for worse.
