I saw some video where McQuaid talks about how the game was originally going to be software accelerated. It was a big risk for them to convert to hardware acceleration for the Voodoo cards of that era. This was considered "pushing the envelope" at the time, and I have to say, the EQ that we still play and love looks thousands of times better than that video. Especially once you copy the s3d files from the downloadable trillogy trial... EQ has never looked better.
