its basically like mcbard said, if you copy the resource folder from the update and allow it to copy over your resource folder in your EQ directory you lose all of your sky rain snow and some other graphics such as your loading screen. (this is obviously where you would want to go to "adjust" these classic "features" :P)

to prevent this make sure you make a backup of your resource folder, and only copy the files inside the resource folder in the update to your resource folder on your computer.

if you have already lost the files, maybe someone could put up a zip file but you may just have to reinstall EQ, then remember to keep a backup from the fresh install to further prevent having to reinstall. i have heard many people suggesting having 2 EQ folders.

If i redownload everquest, and just put the correct file in the resource folder instead of replacing the entire folder with the new updates I should be good?

There ya go, just uploaded mine, it has the current files in it as well. Only thing you may wanna change is I use the classic load screen from here http://www.project1999.org/files/classic/loadscreen.jpg
