We use Symantec Endpoint Protection here (I'm the Sys Admin) and just about 40 min ago this same file was reported as a Trojan on my workstation: wsock32.dll

Lucky for me I'm the guy but for others that play at work, hopefully you rename your EQ directory cause it points your AntiVirus servers RIGHT at your game lol... I.E. the log we get that alerts us of infections shows the workstation's username/computer name & directory of infection in full detail.

As for Symantec being horrible... it works pretty well for us so I guess it's a matter of opinion? We have no problems with it accept it exposing my EQ1 install at work!

Same reports as others using Norton, it identified the file as a Trojan Virus.

http://www.project1999.org/files/eqchangesv13.zip

redownload that, try it.

The hackers that were banned are reporting false information to get the files flagged.

It also has some anti-cheat stuff in it that does not personally identify you, contrary to popular belief. I don't know why everyone has their bottoms in a bunch. (pun intended)
Well whatever it is sending must be linked to an account, which would be linked to my email, which I would consider something that identifies me to a certain extent. I guess I'd just like to know more about what the anti-cheat stuff is logging...

We can see your account name and number regardless. P99 doesn't have access to your email address. This forum is for bugs. Not tinfoil cats.

To register on these forums, you had to have put in your email anyway. Same with the EQEmulator forum, which, surprise, are run by us.

It's logging information that can ban you if you were cheating, not your emails.

Thank you. That helped.

I get what they (the hackers) are trying to do. It's just that some of us are so paranoid we wont "trust" any file.
