Aside from learning where to buy certain spells at, I find the game to be quite straight forward...which to me, IS one of its faults. It's basically just "kill monsters that con blue with friends, loot bodies, sell loot, buy spells and gear, maintain food/drink, and repeat" which does get a little monotonous. I don't think it's so confusing tho that it requires extensive reading. The few quests or events that might don't come until the way late game where you should already have a pretty strong grasp on the game mechanics and your character.

Everquest is a game that isn't for easy mode players. It requires you to acquire knowledge, skills, and patience.
That's its appeal to many of us. Not knowing everything is why we play like we do, why we keep coming back to it, some like myself came back after 20 years of playing easier mode games like WoW or a dozen other MMORPGs. If we wanted easy mode, we'd play those games.

The only thing that was ever complicated about EQ, in my limited experience, was if you actually tried completing quests that were more involved than "bring me x". But since the rewards were almost never worth any effort, that didn't matter.
I don't think I've ever lost a corpse. I've lost levels on corpse runs, but never the actual body/loot. That would be dispiriting. | ||
