I just want a new one... I don't want to purge or merge cause I'd never login to either one again anyhow. So whichever is fine by me, as long as i can go back to crawling and grinding through the timeline again. Keep your name if you need it - heck, you can have one or all of my 117 names.

Thanks folks. It's been an interesting conversation. So basically it's a lot of work, but we could do it without a server merge, but there are population concerns if we do that.

I'm thinking more people would come back and play if there was a new progression server. There would be some population increase from returning players wanting to play their higher level characters so the hit on the high end characters for raids and what not would not be that bad.

There is the hardware and time/blood/sweat/tears from our folks that keep the game going too!

I would strongly oppose purging all characters and they would never do that anyway because there'd be no point to it. if they're starting a new progression server then you have an option to play on a server that doesn't have existing chars on it.

I'm not in the know at all but I would not think a progession server of any sort os incomming on p99 cuz that is Daybreaks bread and butter.

It can not be put more simply than that.

That however is just IMHO.

Just think people.

Heard daybreak was bought out, did they keep the name?

Just curious what the issues are. I'm sure there must be something that keeps us from doing a day one server again.
The issues are the devs are busy playing other games and have checked out.

Except the recent even and patch changes make clear that they're not checked out.

Nilbog also responded in a thread that certain changes (like the BGs in HK no longer being there after November 1999) should be expected in future iterations of the server.

Yeah I balance the amount of patch changes that focused on patching content prior to the current timeline (would only impact a new server/progression) with the realization that it was like 3 years between patches and many of those things were probably fixed in parallel with green launch and in timeline issues when they were addressed but were just never pushed into production with a patch.

Part of me feels optimistic that the patch is a precursor to a new server/reset. Part of me feels like it was just addressing things in real time, those things became unimportant due to progression and therefore it wasn't urgent to release patches along the way.

It's probably a mix of both. Nilbog and Rogean push those updates out when they have the time in their own lives and feel like doing it. I wouldn't say that it means a new server is right around the corner, but I do think Nilbog's response means that they have a plan for a new server eventually. Whether that's in the next few months or like a year from now remains to be seen.
