KC Groups to get the feel of charm

Charm breaks happen

You don't want to be fumbling about if that happens in a tight spot deep in HS

my spellbar used to look like this around 53 - solo / charming.

1) drain soul - swapped to Deflux at 54
2) hungry earth
3) screaming terror
4) cajole undead / thrall of bones depending on mob level
5) enstill
6) feign death
7) rest the dead
8) DAMAGE SWAP: (In combat) Vampiric Curse, Splurt, Banish Undead - depending if finishing off undead or non.
REBUFF SWAP: (Out of Combat) Augment Death, Major Shielding / Shield of the Magi / Dead Man Floating, etc.

1-7 usually didn't change. I preferred using a single pet with a torch and a weapon, and killing it last. When mob i'm killing is one Drain Soul, or Dismiss Undead, or Hungry earth away from death - keep it rooted and back pet. use rest the dead on pet, feign death. pet is paci / blurred now, and you can finish the mob.... dont paci blur on the last kill for pet and finish it off with some hungry earths heh.

I originally used hungry earth on pet if charm broke - because its short duration. but screaming terror is a faster cast - and has more utility, so i keep that on the bar always.

I charmed in City of Mist from 45-54. The arena is great, theres 5 undead in the main building, 4 more undead in the side building. 3 goos too level 35-45 mobs in the center... i left the goo building alone. good exp and plenty of room to kite on charm breaks etc.

Temple is also great city of mist... the inside (i left the outside alone) theres 7 undead spawns and 1 golem.

cruised through 51-54 there - but at 54 it was too many green, and howling stones was too appealing not to switch locales.

Howling Stones doesn't have a better ZEM than Karnor's Castle, nor MOB's that are easier for their level, and you can't easily run to the exit or maintain Jboots, AND it requires extra time to get the key. There's no benefit to leveling there instead of KC, aside from perhaps KC being overcrowded on a given day.

I'd also rather level in City of Mist than HS. Plenty of undead for a Necro to charm.

And if you don't want to charm, there's better zones than all of those places.

Yep that's what you constantly do. HS is not some uber leveling zone. Your fetish for that zone is simply your own fetish. Clearly not everyone wants to charm either, and Necros are great soloers without charming. It's a fact that there are much better places to exp for non-charming, but you provided absolutely 0 useful info to the person asking, like usual.

Charming to 60 on a necro can be super safe. Pack a charged cap, have harm shield on your bar, snare/root the mob you're not charming, and don't get greedy. Even if charming and non-charming were the exact same xp/hour, one is more difficult than the other, so learning to do both means you'll have more xp camps open to you. In reality charming is straight up better in zones where you can't root rot every single mob at a camp every spawn cycle, because charming adds high dps to two mobs every charm.

Often times it's not about which xp camp is best, but about what's the best xp camp that's currently open.

/shrug I was earing about 10% exp per hour charming in Howling Stones North from 55-58, as an Iksar with -20% penalty.

Seems pretty damn good to me.

Yeah charming is just vastly more dps so while it is useless if you're at a camp you can clear fast anyway, at 50+ mob hp/damage scale up so much that your time to kill when not charming becomes garbage.

Chardok is a good option to and not very popular,at least the xp camp.
Duo with a druid, they charm a dog you charm and skele and you just clear the castle ent,up and down the ramps. Very easy and safe, good xp and can be good loot.
