facebook kinda destroyed aim. Also text messaging. Aim was big years ago when people's cell phones were still primitive and shitty.

Plenty of people, including all of my close friends, still use AIM. It's convenient, and usually the only people I want to talk to on a daily basis are on my AIM list. Logging into FB messenger is annoying as fuck because you get messaged by retards you haven't talked to in like 10 years or family members when you really don't want to be bothered.
