lol @ the hater tags. I heard one melee class that gets a level 60 item and can then solo with it as effectively as a naked level 12 necro or mage is bullshit, nerf monks now please. Blue servers are fucking hard as fuck.

Iksars are probably the better monk race but a 40% experience penalty is annoying. Plus you can't move around as easily as a human.

I had the same dilemma since I started here after kunark and I went with Iksar.

Honest tho, you probably can't go wrong with either race. The faction stuff is a pain and it would be nice if I didn't have to deal with it. The experience penalty sucks as well.

Is the night vision, regen, forage and ac worth it? I have no basis for comparison, but I couldn't imagine having to wait longer in between fights than I already do while soloing. Then again, you wouldn't have to kill as many things as I do as a Iksar....

I like some of the Iksar animations better (flying kick, feign) and some of the human animations better (walking, punching). Overall I think the Iksar look cooler. I realize that's a very personal opinion though.

Human monks do more damage unarmed, but who fights unarmed? You could probably get two fighting batons for under 800pp total (8/20 weapons vs 8/36 fists at my level) or camp a Iksar Berserker Club (worst camp ever).

It looks like the regen really takes off post 50, but I have no personal experience with that.

It is all a matter of taste. I went with human because I knew there would be a lot of Iksar monks out there. It was my personal taste. I wasn't worried over regen or anything else. It's also why I went with Human for my Shadow Knight. I preferred it over the many Troll and Ogre SK's and I preferred the look. Choose the race you like and go with it. You'll be glad you did.

Iksars have far better regen, but you need to weigh that against being KoS to most cities in the old world. Once velious comes out it's not a big deal, but that could still be over a year away.

In the end, they're the same thing, minor regen and AC aren't going to make a difference when you're pulling NToV or such.

human h2h delay is 1 lower then iksar h2h delay (when using bare fists).

Humans have 5 higher base STR then iksar which means they'll do slightly more per-hit but eventually this doesn't matter once your gear + shaman buffs causes you to hit 255 str.

on the other hand, Iksar has higher dex which would mean more procs if using a Tstaff. Ultimately I'd vote for Iksar as the stronger choice.

I mentioned this, and pointed out its basically irrelevant - especially with max haste. Iksar regen and AC easily top the DPS benefit you get from this, particularly if you have access to a peacebringer or higher.
