The sandbox genre generally refers to games with little direction and no "right" way to play. Like a sandbox, there's sand(an environment), a box (some rules), and maybe a bucket(tools) but nothing really telling you, you must do this to play here. Even though many of us might build a sandcastle...

Lol there is no sand. Go ahead try to kick it, don't hurt your foot.
It's an amusement park, not a sandbox. There are rides, and there are lines for the rides. There are vendors; you can buy an Orange Julius if it's hot. And of course like any amusement park, there is a bus of Chinese tourists who just bum rush whatever ride they want and take it over and leave a big mess. | ||
