My favorite gnome out of any fantasy novel is Gnimsh, the gnome inventor from The Test of the Twins trilogy in Dragonlance. I was only 10 when i read that book and I cried for poor Tas when Raistlin fried him with the lightning bolt.
Gnimsh--- Poor lil Gnome didn't get to finish his life quest. Read lots of books with Gnomes in, but Margret Weis and Tracy Hickman do the best job.
