Would I be getting this many invites if I were a 49 Ranger? I can understand if there's a zone nearby that people may want me for, but CoM is a long, LONG run from Paineel, even with a port.

Disagree, I think the Weaponshield discipline makes them a better tank than Paladins when they need to be.

On a side note, Guard Captain Latorl is kicking my butt even at Level 49. I'm able to bring him down quickly with Dismiss Undead spam, but he gives as good as he gets, and sometimes brings me within 20% of my health in the span of a minute long battle. I guess dual-wield is a big deal on mobs.

Am I going to be able to solo an ancient cyclops at Level 50 then? The wiki says it's Level 41 with 3500HP.

ok - but you realize a competent CoM group will have 1-6 mobs in camp at all times, right?

They should get a Warrior then.

I'm having trouble understanding your points. You say you're being invited to join a group, but you argue your ability to solo.

In the group setting you would be expected to contribute as the "tank" and that means all you need to do is hold agro (the point made that flash of light takes very little mana) and take the hits dealt by the mobs. The rest of the duty would be left to other members of the group.

It seems likely to me that a paladin is a particularly good choice for a group who doesn't have a cleric as healer (you said yourself that healers seem to be in short supply) as you are the only tank who can also rez. Sure, it's a 0% rez, but you yourself also mentioned it's a long long run to CoM. So, clearly you offer multiple benefits to a group in such a remote area.

All this is speculation, as I'm playing on Green, so clearly was not in any of the groups who tried to recruit you, but I feel the answer is fairly obvious.

Played on and off over the years, I always lose interest at some point, probably won't be bothered to go past 50 unless I really want to grind it out. I won't deny that I can be a bit of a troll though. I love a good laugh at someone elses expense.

But the way Sirquestalot elaborated makes more sense. Res, backup healing, tanking and good against Undead, so I guess I can't be surprised. But there are other places that Tanks are wanted at 49, and I only ever get asked for CoM.
