Is a rubicite BP really worth the cash grind?

Iksar regen by itself isn't necessarily a game changer for melee. It helps when soloing, but without external help (i.e. buffs from another player), it's generally more efficient to level in a group.

Racial regen in conjunction with a regen item like this changes the calculus. While it's not as good as a fungi tunic, it stacks with racial regen, making soloing / duoing far more manageable and efficient up until level ~40 or so.

Even in proper fast paced groups, the Ikky BP can significantly alleviate healer pressure if a druid or shaman is around to give you spell regen, effectively giving you 12 health per tick while standing if you're an iksar (which isn't far off from fungi tunic values and is effectively identical to having chloroplast).

As for the forum topic, my advice is to use the money you'd spend on a rubi BP on a ceremonial iksar breastplate instead. Kunark is a only a month and a half away. You actually only get +3 health per tick with the rubi BP - better than nothing, but honestly nothing to write home about. My guess is that ikky BP will be roughly comparable in price, or maybe moderately more expensive with Kunark launch as demand > supply. Outside of fashionquest seekers, you'll have a harder time selling the rubicite BP in Kunark when other regen items become available, so re-selling rubi BP may be a major pain when everyone is chomping at the bits for Kunark goodies.

I always thought Ikky BP was dark blue chain, but I guess it might be dark grey... honestly, who knows with the ridiculous lighting here.

I was on the fence about Rubi BP, but it's been pretty great while leveling my SK, and I've always wanted one deep down—no regrets.

That being said, Ikky BP should be somewhat attainable come Kunark, so if you're not actively leveling a toon, it's kinda iffy.

As for price, it should be easy to find for 15k or so.

after the 30th or so time of reactivating my EQ account after EQ died i had about 20-30k left in my bank and i saw a rubicite breastplate for sale and i spent all my money to buy one just to say i had one once
