People are influenced by social media. Social media is on the internet. The internet has a pre-existing culture, "pwning" being on of the things in that culture. It was for nerds mostly. Those who had an interest in computers. Iphone, smart phone, gave direct access to that with the help of 'apps' such as facebook. Facebook making it acceptable to post ones face, personal information. Thus tying the internet, with its culture that isn't for the real world, with real world. Nerds could understand this but do grandma and grandpa who just want to look at their grandkids photos? Thus my hate for the thing is not so much the device but what the results of that device are. Trying to preserve one culture in real life and another on the computer world. I mark this in mind when a co-worker came up to me in early 2008 and showed me his hos on facebook via his smart phone device. It was a dark rainy day. Gotta live with this now. That means the 94 and 4 year old are both gonna get skull fucked by it. I don't have to like it, I don't have to like mobile games but I cannot deny the influences they have. I will continue to make jokes and talk shit. Quote:

I also noticed more people took offense to what they found on the internet, as if it sanitize it to make it safe for the new people coming in the door. To protect business interests which have aligned themselves against the culture of the Internet.

Netflix is also to blame. Not so much when they did mail order DVDs but later. Youtube as well. Not for the user content but for rehosting content they shouldn't and big corporate taking issue with that. Then imposing more rules here. Not that big a worry when the user base is small, or at least smaller than now.. but hey! we are getting everyone online with the help of smart phone plans. | ||
