Yeah, if there is no confirmation about GM events gifting items like Guise, I really don't want to get my hopes up. I'd rather just organically get over it I guess. I for one would love if they had contests of the sort with prizes like no drop legacy items. I totally could understand tradeable items causing a fuss, but I don't see how something like a cosmetic no drop item could hurt if the amount of happiness it brought outweighed the people who will complain about literally anything.

In fact, I think Guise being the one non-obtainable cosmetic item that everyone wants would be the perfect reward for a GM event held a few times a year. Just the thought that "It's possible." would do a lot to help with the sadness attached to missing out on a bucket list dream while also not completely devaluing the item and the time others invested to get it.

Once again, if I would of known that the expected release date for Temple of Solusek Ro / Legacy item removal was going to be May and not June, I would of no lifed on my warrior to get there in time. I know they were not set in stone and were purely estimates, its just the fact that they specifically crossed out May 2020 that makes me feel just a little mislead.

Oh well, it is what it is, as they say!

Aren't guises a frequent reward from GM events? Not saying it's likely, but it's still possible for you to get one on your warrior.

When was the last time you saw a GM event? They didn't even bother with doing a GM event for this launch (which was historically one of the largest and most celebrated GM events in the early game).

The last one I can think of was the 10 year anniversary back in October - shortly before Green launched. Enough people attended that WC crashed and people were voicegrafting fish and skeletons and there was a huge conga line. I went to bed before it ended though so no idea what rewards or prizes there were.

I knew I had seen one somewhere:

But it's from 2013 so yeah - not sure of any recent events that had one as a reward... Oh well.

There are other rare but obtainable items - could always try for a https://wiki.project1999.com/Pegasus_Feather_Cloak

Sirken from what I remember was a pretty nice guy. I think he helped me out with an issue at one point when I first got started.

It is a total long shot winning an item from a GM event, but if they held the events several times a year that would mean more chances and more chances means its possible.

Idk, I am in the very early stages of coping at the moment. Being a nerd who has loved this game his entire life I know that some of you may literally laugh out loud at the thought of some guy crying over pixels, but to some of us, it means a lot more than you can imagine.

Just sucks. Thats all.

Here's the thing about "crying over pixels": we all do it, whether we admit it in the forum or not.

EQ is a game that requires you to invest in it. Really, there's just no way to kill that same frog/skeleton/goblin/whatever over and over for hundreds of times unless you buy into the idea that "this world matters" and that your short-term efforts are building towards something of greater consequence.

IMHO all the jokes about these virtual items we lust after "just being pixels" are a reflection of that: we're all laughing at ourselves for wanting a digital 1 or 0 because we're all heavily invested in acquiring that 1/0. But once you recognize that ... once you realize that you created that feeling of investment, and that desire to achieve a goal ... then it frees you up to make a new goal, to get invested in a new way.

Maybe you will never get a Guise, and maybe I will never get a Manastone, but both those were just artificial goals we created for ourselves to have fun. If they stop serving that purpose, it's time to cast them aside and pick new ones that do.

Well said strongNpretty, I wish we had a thumbs up feature, but this will have to suffice.
