you can't un-ring a bell. face it, the first person that decided he wanted to trade/sell his account was on to something.

I remember it going pretty strong in Kunark, and by Velious is was booming. I remember in highschool when I was like 15 I made a couple thousand bucks for summer vacation by buying, selling, and trading accounts lol

Summer job? Fuck that, I had EQ

Is this a joke? Account trading was INSANELY rampant in classic.
Comprehension issues? Say, whaaaaaaaaaaa? I never said it wasn't rampant. I said it was illegal.

It was extremely common and rampant in Classic, therefore they allow it to be extremely common and rampant here. Pretty simple.

Except, the point of this thread that you and several other people fail to realize, is that in classic and as far as I'm aware, STILL, it is illegal to sell and trade accounts.
To argue this as a point of 'morality', it's disallowed on Live because SOE is a corporation. I'm sure there's legal issues regarding PLing accounts to sell for your profit. Trading is probably a grey area, but it's cleaner to just say 'no' all around.

From the 'it's not classic' standpoint:
1) It happened anyway. (I remember surfing Ebay and finding accounts)
2)It's pointless to throw a fit over it here, it's impossible to regulate because it takes 2 minutes to make an account and create a lvl 1, and as importantly, it may actually have a POSITIVE impact on the community so long as RMT is aggressively prosecuted.
I know several players who leveled a character, got burnt out and traded/sold for another class. This keeps the population high. I myself would have long ago sold my 46 shaman if it weren't on the same account as the character I still play most.

I'm not trying to un-ring a bell. /shrug I don't give a shit what people do with their accounts. <3 I still have my original account on Live and no one will ever get their filthy paws on my account here.

I personally think it's lame to trade / sell / give handjobs or whatever for pre-leveled characters. For all the QQs of how "easy" it is to level up and how any moron can play any class it kind of surprises me that there's a market for it at all. But I guess the greedy cater to the lazy, so it keeps all of y'all content.

Trade away!
