I was looking for historical data like Dola posted http://web.archive.org/web/200008152....ign.com/scan/ but I wonder the date on that picture.

I remember when the numbers stopped showing on the server select list I knew the lameness was setting in.

Pheerie please go level up forum quest for a few months and then come back. Dolalin thank you for the lead that led me to all of the above links that give a good taste of the populations of old. I think we are capable of having at least 1 server at classic level pops, which is extremely exciting for a 20 year old MMO.

I have a snap of the moment they celebrated 100,000 players or something, was around 2002.

Anyone who played at that time remembers it being on the screen. Imagine not actually playing classic eq and trying to be an authority on the subject.

Please provide a screenshot of classic EQ showing numbers on the screen, and not a 3rd party app skimming numbers. This app did have a dev reply stating it was accurate, but at no time after launch has verant/soe/dbg provided verified live population numbers. Sorry, but your recollection seeing population numbers in the actual EQ login screen is wrong.

Staff are even considering opening a 2nd server if the population on green demands it.
I think we're going to see some beyond single server classic numbers on 1 p99 server.

Tell more people about Green!

Someone already showed you patch notes from when Verant removed the raw numbers. Is that not good enough for you?
