I dont know that anyone has run a formula or whatever but most high level rogues try this tactic at one time or another. It is nearly impossible to swap weapons like this and add to your DPS over a long period of time. You can certainly do it for a few rounds of combat but very quickly you will make timing mistakes that add up to lower DPS overall. This is not factoring in the haste of the weapon either.

Its not that hard to swap weapons if you have a free bag slot. But you would need a worn haste item other than epic since it lowers backstab CD iirc. You just drag the 2 slots (primary and the inventory slot) and click them over, can even just hover w it in cursor and swap in just to BS.
