I got a ring yesterday on my chanter thinking they were tradable - at this point it is not usable from inventory, and notrade. Factor in that the ring is the rarer of the 2 rewards, and I don't see how the mallet should be worth anything more than the usual 500pp.
Obviously if the rings lose the nodrop tag and can be used by anyone that changes things. There is a bug report in right now - if you can help to prove the ring has been incorrectly implemented your hammer will be worth a lot more.
