Bards are not enchanters, their mez isn't charisma based.

Also it doesnt matter if he's not getting power-leveled. End game is end game no matter how long it takes you to get there. You put 20 points into charisma and it will be completely useless to you by level 60... hell it will be useless at level 50. Also don't forget that bard charm caps at like level 51 forever!

ENC Charm aint - based on CHA either. ENC charm on this server was changed. So why dont the Staff- be more clear on what all the hidden shit is. Before people waste there time on a bunch of AH who Fing change shit from what its susposed to be from the original game?

My point is that STA is hp. And BRDs need CHA for charm. Sorry I could a been more clear. Chic was saying ya need HP on ENC .

Sta and perhaps a bit of strength if you wanna be able to carry anything at all while wearing armor. Those 5 points in str over sta won't make you wanna reroll once you hit 60 come kunark, but will make your life getting there all the more easy.

As for gear, I'd say go for HP/AC and if anything, try dex over str whilst using proccing weapons? I find the melee output on my bard to be quite useless. Try getting an ice crystal staff early on, you'll love it.

Go full stamina at start, get all the +hp items you can. Kite from 5-35 then /q when you realize you gotta group.

This is absolutely correct.

Also, Guineapig/chica is probably right about STA being the best choice. Is it really true that Cha has NO effect on charm durations though (for Bards)? I don't think that's accurate, but I'd have to test.

Since the charm duration for bards has been fixed, the difference would be so minimal as to not be worth even changing gear for it. Just my opinion though. We're talking the difference of a tic (or 2 on a critical failure). And sadly you still won't know if charm broke due to your charisma or the mob rolling high on their magic resist check.

Here is a comment by somebody who tested it extensively on live:

Not "not really noticable"... none. Twice in my bard's lifetime I ran around taking stats on it, hoping to find that my 250 CHA was doing me some good. Checking 75 and 250, over 100 or so charms, the resist rate was within +- 1% of each other (both with the lower (mid 20s) and lvl 64 charm).

I would definitely believe it effected duration (for enchanters), nearly every chanter I talked to seem to think so. A bard would not notice the duration, either.

He does go on to mention that charisma does effect bard lull however. So I guess that's worth taking into some consideration. This quote is from 2009 but he was testing back when the skill caps were at 250 so it's fairly relevant.

If you can't go 38-50 solo as a bard, you're doing it wrong.
