Your Favorite Console Generation?

I really like the games on the SNES (note tense :P).

Coupled with the wide online play, 'non-traditional-gaming' friendliness of the system and back catalogue of 'classic' games I have to pick the Wii / Network era.

I feel the other eras were more incremental changes than really innovative. But I don't know what I'm talking about, just my perspective [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.].

NES is the only console I've played in the past five years, probably. Got them old Zeldas, Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, weird ass Super Mario 2, Maniac Mansion, Castlevanias, Metroid, Ninja fucking Gaidens, Contra, Boys with their Blobs, etc etc. Like comfort food but for the fingers. New consoles, with all their modern technology, glitz and polish, sound and fury, just make my eyes go crossed. I'm almost forty years old.

SNES and current era are best era. The N64 was so revolutionary its hard not to have the feels for it but I choose SNES in hindsight

grew up on SNES as well same as u pal

N64 def was an event in life. the buzz was so huge and the games were revolutionary as u said. id probably choose to relive that time over any other system.

PS2 is def in the mix...but by that time im guessing we were both "grown up" a bit and you cant really hit those nostalgia feels if you are past that quasi teen santa clause age.

never gave a rats fuck about SEGA but I liked to see people play sonic hedgehog thats about it. nobody in my neighborhood gave a fuck about SEGA. you were considered a poor black person if you bought a SEGA.

You should research the SEGA Channel. You might be surprised at the precurser to contemporary digital cable user interface.

32/64 bit era. N64 then PS2, but PC master race.

Amiga ... not sure if that was a thing in the US or not.

NeoGeo was $600 for JUST the console and 1 controller (at one point of time) and the games carts were $200 a pop. No...my family wasn't rich and the only person I knew that owned one was a 30 year old dude that ran a rental store. I was able to play it a few times. It was fun.

Amiga, omg Amiga. Best computer ever made during it's time. I owned a 500 (with an addon CPU 68020 14Mhz with FPU and the back up 68000 sat on top of that. That little board also had max memory installed 4MBs), 1000, 2000, 1500 and 3000.

I used to run Trinity BBS on 2 floppys, then upgraded to CNET when I got a 40MB HDD. I assisted with passing messages through FIDOnet. The gaming was awesome. Shadow of the Beast, It came from the Desert, Lemmings and the list goes on.

Back to topic:

8bit, 16bit and 32bit

Sonic CD, Doom on PS1 (friend and I would set up 2 TVs, 2 PS1s and multiplayer Doom) and the rest is all the RPG greats from 8bit and 16 bit days. I still have FF7 and Castlevania Symphony of the Night cases + Discs
