Well, I did the 124(?) berserkers and their braids and have an OT hammer banked for level 50!

It took me from 1 yellow into 39 to 1 yellow away from 41. I only got xp from two extraneous sources; a single cockatrice and a solo Sarnak Knight. Everything else was the berserker braids. Made only about 100p but saved maybe 1k down the line for a hammer.

For the sake of comparison I probably would have made much faster xp and a four figure sum of plat dungeon grouping or soloing elsewhere.

I suppose it wasn't too time consuming or difficult as far as EQ goes, but make your own decision if it was worth it.

I will say one of the aspects of Classic EQ that I so adore is the faction system. And while I wouldn't do this quest the legit way again I did have a lot of fun doing it. Seeing those faction marks tick by and slowly building up trust was an enjoyable experience. Albeit an absurdly long one.

Sounds like a fairly good endeavor if you are going to be playing a toon only for short stretches of time. Log in, bash some zerkers, lopg out.
