How did this happen?

Sometimes it was even beneficial to go LD, as you'd have higher chances of survival. I remember casters going apeshit and dishing out nasty melee damage .. it mostly happened during raids, where if a caster went LD they'd engage the raid target. Hilarity ensued.

There was also a time when it was possible to dupe items using Linkdead players.

One of the few memories I have of playing EQ when I was 9, is thinking I was going to have an easy PK by hitting an LD character.



This did not end well for me.

I played on TZ way back in the day and if someone went LD and you attacked them, they turned into an npc and would attakc you [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] and would chase after you until you zoned the persons char or killed it....

i saw someone go LD today and killed mob for him.

You also used to be able to sow yourself indoors by forcing yourself LD with sow memmed [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
