Waste of money. You can get better gear for the same price as doing the quests (they require two expensive gems each to complete).

If you do it, do it for funsies or because you really want to be blue.

Way better and cheaper Kunark gear is the way to go.

Is it worth farming/saving plat to get the armor set? I've got a 23 bard and I'm leveling at a pretty fast rate but I've got some rly shitty gear that i'd like to replace. Should I even bother spending plat/time on getting the whole set?
Quest it. You're on the cusp of being the right level for all the zones that the quests will ask you to head to. The majority you'll be able to loot by just being in the zone when they're rotting. Leggings will be the hardest part as nobody is ever in Permafrost, but if you're lucky you might run into someone farming ore who'll let you loot the icy greaves.

Am I the only bard main that thinks full lambent looks terrible?

I also feel like gear that people buy specifically for fashionquest loses a lot of appeal when everyone is wearing it. Wood elf druids in crystal chitin is a good example of what I mean.

Run through EC tunnel on any given day and there will be 10+ WE druids in CC and 10+ bards in lambent.

edit: forgot to add, when you do start buying gear go for +HP shit. Longevity is the most helpful thing to a bard.

You should save up for Rubicite gear, much more stylish.

Depends what you're doing. If you're just solo kiting then your armor doesn't matter. I mean honestly, your armor doesn't matter much in the first place as a bard unless you're purposely tanking stuff. The breastplate gives a chunk of hp though.

But I farmed all of mine when I was levelling.. every piece. It gave me something to do, and it was fun doing actual quests and earning things. I wasn't breezing through levels or AE kiting or being power levelled, and it didn't get replaced until I got lucky with some deals for Koada'Dal armor around level 50. If that strikes you as fun, go for it, if you're just gonna level super fast and min/max just skip it.

I miss when all the bards were blue and green. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I bought my bard a set of fine plate for fashion and don't regret it for a second. Get cheap instruments and swarm your way to glory, but look good doing it.

I'd buy the lambent.
This guy has the right idea with the fine plate. Except I took it a step further, and made dye myself and found a Smither to do the final combine for me. It was the light blue dye looks hella cool. Was pretty cheap to get to dye trivial I just had to farm permafrost for a little. Replace it when you can farm skyshrine armor. Perfect for bards.

I suggest buying yourself a set, you can typically find it pretty cheap. Questing for Lambent is simply not worth the effort (IE the mats to build the armor cost more than the f#cking armor sells for in EC)
