SOE said that it is not going to be "classic" just a progression based server,for players who want a new start at EverQuest. Also if not for "$OE" there would be no project 1999 because there would be no Everquest.

The changes made to "noob" zones are extremely ugly and unbalancing. I would possibly enjoy playing Kunark or later, but the original content areas would suck beyond belief. That said, I would not be interested in shelling out one penny to replay content I did nearly twelve years ago. If it were FTP? Who knows. I play 1999 occasionally, afterall.

I don't really think you get it, meaning you didn't play way back when before the game became a clusterfuck of expansions and free loot for everyone.

Free loot for everyone didnt really come until after planes of power. And that way way after sony took over for verant. They added some low level armor quests, which gave a shitty armor reward that was a step up from bronze / banded, but nothing more tbh.

Defiant armor and the stupid mines of gloomingdeep was like ..The spine of whatever expansion..wasn't it?

the point is, if someone soley plays to win, then go play progression until the inevitable will come (an expansion someone doesnt like) and most likely quit after as i did on combine back the day.

but if someone actually made friends here and tends to enjoy classic more than live eq then i would stay since P99 is build for the years to come without wow-esque gameplay with pop and beyond on live

and lets not forget that P99-staff said they might release a second P99 server after velious.
