Shaman is a great class, but one word of warning: There are a LOT of shamans in game, clerics are much more rare... prolly because they can't solo so well.

Low level exp groups - enchanter
Mid level exp groups - enchanter
High-end farming - enchanter
High-end raiding - encha...errr... rogue

All the Dwarf classes would be my recommendation. None can solo well at all, but all are coveted, decent stats for any choice.
