Technically it is compared to how things operated pre-patch.

has anyone tested the 10 min de-aggro if you are within chase distance or the 30 sec de-aggro when you leave distance ?

Try Phinigel
phinigel is not a place you wanna be seen.

is this a classic change or not, which is the only thing that matters

depends on which 17 year old internet forums posts you look at, but evidence seems to point towards it being A Thing, details are pretty fuzzy though so in all likelihood we have a very non-classic implementation of the mechanic

I don't think it happened til luclin tbh. I seem to remember training spectres and tangrin and all sorts of mobs on noobies back in the day and they never reset as long as I was running around. Then in luclin I remember kiting some mobs in the grey and eventually they would reset. I highly doubt it happened before luclin but I don't exactly have the best memory in the world either, its a good memory, but not best.

It's not strictly a classic feature; it's a Kunark feature. I cannot recollect whether it was retroactively applied to old-world zones since, being a Paladin, outrunning trains wasn't my thing.
