The Skyshrine legs are just too low on base AC to be good despite the HP. The Kael legs have more value and their lower weight does give them an edge over Oiled Greaves despite the loss of AC.

The Skyshrine Arms are really not better than Kael, which has Ac4 more for a loss of Hp10 and Sta3. So at most 22hp for 6AC worn. Of course the Skyshrine are considerably easier to faction for.
hp and resists are king for a monk sorry m8 ur actually just wrong

Let's be clear here. We are talking at 2MR. I don't see any reason to consider the resists on an item unless its 5MR or higher..

I imagine magic resist and HP are pretty important for monks; I imagine resisting roots and blinds and shrugging off nukes during inc is rather helpful.

You should expect to mitigate with the best of them with sufficient AC though.

Is p1999 in the softcap of 289 worn system? If so, what exactly are the post cap 'minimal returns'?

Never said they were not important. You make your own value judgement on HP/Resists for AC trade off. I gave you mine, the miniscule Ac6 on Skyshrine Legs and Ac7 pm Skyshrine Arms is just awful. TBH, I suspect the legs should have been Ac8 and someone typo'd. Of course, devs on EQ never admitted or even corrected itemisation errors.

You didn't say they were important either. I was complimenting your post with a salient piece of info for the OP.

the hp alone makes these items vastly superior to the kael counterparts

Hp >

Id almost always choose HP over AC personally. I wear Skyshrine armor for the HP and overall better stats.

Can't believe they put 6 AC on those skyshrine legs. What a fucking abortion.

Monk POF Planar Legs - 5 AC
Monk SS Quest Legs - 6 AC

Wizard POF Planar Legs - 5 AC
Wizard SS Quest Legs - 7 AC

Warrior POH Planar Legs - 20 AC
Warrior SS Quest Legs - 40 AC

When I first saw AC on the monk SS armor I was surprised as well. Especially seeing Velious monk pants with 25, 46, or 60 AC on them! it's insane
