Dwarf rogue is the best rogue and yes it's all about the looks. If you don't like how you look, IMO reroll.

Short races get x-ray vision which can be useful, and lets you open the jugg door in Sebilis when coming from Trakanon's lair. Barbarians get slam. Those are the only practical racial advantages for rogues.

Rogue epics are cheap or free if you quest it. Worth rerolling if you don't like what you're looking at.
