in my voyages i have been to places in south america where they totally exterminated the indigenous populace. the spaniards truly excelled and wiping out these cultures and understood that failure to do so would lead to chancres on their society on the future. it is amazing because they literally have no idea what the societies they destroyed were like any more, so thorough was the eradication.
