A quick start Melee/Knight/Shaman Guide:
1. Work Tailoring to make Patchwork Leather Armor and sharpen rusty weapons (blacksmithing) to get yourself a nice tarnished weapon to fight with. Level to 9 or 10. If you like blacksmithing, work on making Metal bits and then studs, to create studded leather armor. 2. Go buy a Magic Weapon. 3. Spend lv10-15 killing wisps for Lightstones and Greater Lightstones and get coins per kill. 4. As you amass money, go to EC Tunnel and buy yourself full banded and two AC5 HP+55 rings.

Shiny Silk Gloves drop from http://wiki.project1999.com/Queen_Nasheeji, spawn loc at 750, 2426. Her PH is a spiderling (yellow colored, so easy to spot). I might be wrong on the level, last time I killed her it was tougher than I remembered for non-twinks, might be level 12. I think the spiderling and the named are the same level. 6m40s timer. A fun, but dangerous camp for low levels is Squallslither in Dagnor's Cauldron. He's a named snake that drops http://wiki.project1999.com/Serpentskin_Eyepatch and Serpent Blood Potion. The potion is an instant click "Desperate Hope" 200hp heal, 320hp Rune, which is nice for those "oh shit" moments, since you don't need to target yourself to use it. He's easy to farm as his PH is a stationary sandbar serpent in the northeast side of the lake, where the lake meets the land. You can see the tail sticking out of the wall. It's a 2 minute spawn timer. He's tricky at low levels, because skeletons and high level goblins sometimes path by. http://wiki.project1999.com/Beartooth_Necklace is easy enough to get, Marik Clubthorn wanders South Karana, no faction hits, level 16 warrior. Just level around the Aviaks and you'll eventually see him. http://wiki.project1999.com/Crookstinger is a nice weapon that procs a 6 damage dd and 6 damage dot that most classes can use. The mob of the same name that drops it is a level 8 bee. There's a couple of spawn points, but they got changed around a few patches back, the one that I have confirmed to still be working is 729, -399. Place holder is lower level bees, many path by the spot, so you just gotta kill them until you see it spawn on the spot. 6m40s timer. If you're a wis caster, http://wiki.project1999.com/Testament_of_Vanear can be done at 14, which will take a long time to upgrade. I've got a lot more, maybe when I get around to it I'll compile a more comprehensive list. It is definitely possible to gear any class as you level in this game (even melee, though you'll either group more, or really get to know mob levels and their max hits). I do it with my alts, because it's just more fun. The hard part is turning down gear from well meaning people who see you running around in raw silk or leather. You definitely gear up a lot slower, you're not going to see any of the really good stuff until 50+, but that just makes it that much more rewarding when you get it. Let me know what class you're playing and I can give you ideas on where to level and what can be had without spending any plat.

Iksar berserker club (drops in Kurn's tower) is nice as far as untwinked weapons go. Obtainable maybe level 17ish.

The problem with farming these super low level items from a practical standpoint is that in the same time you could have made enough plat from bone chips and spider silks to buy a weapon that drops in Seb and will last you till your 50s.

Not to mention, you get the satisfaction of a weapon upgrade dozens of times every time you come across one incrementally better, rather than 2 or 3 times for the life of your character, and your old gear gets handed down to your alt army, so you're not wasting your life haggling in EC to give your alts a head start.

I'm playing a Euridite Necromancer named Nimrots. I'm level 6, currently have been leveling in the warrens. I will start venturing off around level 12 so I can bind myself. I'm definitely going to check out those Aviaks while searching for the Bearthooth Necklace.

I might try heading to Lfay now if I can grab a port, Paineel has been pretty empty though so chances of that are slim.
Get home from work today around prime time though so who knows, might be some dead spiders and bees in my future!

Low level gear drops aren't well-explored on p99, but there are quite a number of them!
http://wiki.project1999.com/Bone_Fingered_Gloves drop from a warbone monk in LS. http://wiki.project1999.com/Basilisk_Bracer drops from Deep Lava Basilisk (sorry, not sure on level for this one) in LS as well. Should be a lower level undead knight in Qeynos Aqueducts that drops http://wiki.project1999.com/Limestone_Ring Also in the aqueducts is an injured rat who drops http://wiki.project1999.com/Alligator_Tooth_Earring http://wiki.project1999.com/Shiny_Brass_Shield is a hot commodity...or it was on live, anyway. Orc trainer camp in CB. Bracers of Battle (to wear or to get Prayer Cloth of Tunare) and Dwarven Ringmail Tunic (to wear or to get Screaming Mace) are also things you can get in CB. Watch out for the brownie scouts in lfay [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

There are some cool low level armor quests you can do but they largely depend on your starting area and class. For instance, the curscale armor quest in Cabilis is great for starting monks and the turn-ins give substantial XP for the level. I even did them on my Iksar Necro just for the XP even though I couldn't wear the armor. You may have out-leveled the gear for these typs of quests but good to know for alts.
There are other turn-in type quest armor (and other quests armor later like you can get in other starting areas but I don't think there is one for every class in every starting area). You can check the class page on the wiki in the quest section I think. Some other examples for say enchanter: Incandescent Armor Quests Mystic Cloak (all pure casters) - fun quest All of these can be found in the class specific quests section of the p99 wiki for your class and also in the pre-planar gearing section of each class.
