my piece of advice. stay away from Red, RnF and anyone envolved with Red and RnF lol
Ive played Red a bit and people have been very friendly, people want to group, chat etc. Sadly the population is very low so last night I tried Blue for an hour and WOW, people are so unfriendly. No-one wants to help new players, no-one wants to group, OOC doesnt respond to questions. Very poor first impression, id prefer the sparce RED population based on my experiences.

Is this normal? I hate the idea of Solo in an MMO.

That's bizarre. I started on blue in GFay last week and I had a blast grouping with people almost every day. I made a druid because I thought I would need to solo a lot (and I like camping long spawns and medding while I do work). Turns out it's quite busy in crushbone and gfay. I haven't been to any other zones yet, though.

Join a guild. Most people are either grouping with IRL friends or guildies. I have been playing my Cleric and I havnt had any issues finding groups since level 1 and my necro when I advertise LFG 9/10 people tell me to go solo lol.
Just dont play a necro or another class that is good at soloing :P

The most popular classes on P99 tend to be Druids, Shamans, Monks, and Necromancers. The least popular are usually Paladins, Rangers, Shadow Knights and Wizards. The middle tier is usually composed of Enchanter, Cleric, Warrior, Bard, Rogue and Magician. The first three listed could be regarded as upper-midrange since they're clearly more popular than the last three.

Long story short, you're not going to find a class that's hugely desired but also rare while maintaining good solo capability. Best thing you can do is pick the class you like and not worry about population. P99 isn't like Live was, and the top guilds here aren't elitist or exclusive--they'll invite just about anyone.

That hasn't been my experience on blue at all. I have *mostly* had positive experiences with people. Lots of people go out of their way to give noobs gear or plat or port you for free when you have no plat.

it's just another ploy by a redder to recruit. no one in blue buys it for one second

That was sort of what I thought when I read it but was trying to give the benefit of the doubt. If this is a ploy to get people on red..it's pretty pathetic and desperate (and will fail miserably).

Play red server if you want to actually see the content, have value as an individual, and get some interesting experiences you won't find elsewhere. Blue is oversaturated and when you do get to the point of "raiding" on there, it will involve not actually raiding but instead standing around randomly in hopes of maybe getting to do anything at all.

when people on forums talk about red like this on the forums I go "OH BOY! imma roll on red" then when I play on red it's just me getting killed by a twinked out level 1. it's dumb, how can I see content when my corpse is getting camped by a wizard with a jumpy robe, full loam encrusted gear and MQd epic.

Maybe the epic part is a bit exaggerated but still... SUPER twinked level 1 killing me over and over. It's not fair lol

How can you value yourself as an individual if you are camping a person who just started the servers corpse?

Yeah, I understand "That was just that one time" (which I have heard A LOT) but that has happened everytime I have tried to play red... which was about 10 times. all the way from a gnome necro to an iksar shaman.

now, I have been playing on this server for about 4 years, im super casual, and I generally play live (because I have old toons on there) and I can say, play on blue.

/OOC is global on Red, on blue it can only be seen by the people in the same zone.
