Wait you played on a red server on live? Dear god, I assumed this was your fist PvP server given your, um, skill set and track record.

image/devnoob servers historically have been a lot more fun than red99 ever has been

shame they added some lame ass mechanics like respawning with full gear, fixed duration charm, dispels only hitting debuffs on group members, etc.

Respawning with your gear is lame, but it's less lame than red99's LNS. When someone breaks LNS rules you have to get a gm involved and there's a bunch of crying. In both cases the result is the same. You get your corpse back without having to pvp. PVE death still drops a corpse. The dispel mechanic is to prevent some ass from joining your team to dispel grief you.
