As this is classic server I am doing it the classic way, trying to log in and see, and cheating a bit by looking at the status on the site.

While I like it, I wish it would check less frequently. Whatever it uses to check X 500 is a lot of crap for whatever you send it to to deal with.

Just make the time between checks a variable we can modify? That would be perfect.

anyway .. im using it since i dont want to check webpages all the time .. im browsing / doing other things while this thing checks every couple seconds for me, and when the server goes on my pretty Windows (TM) voice tells me "SERVER UP!!!" and i log in .. vio la



oh and if you are affraid its connecting to anything else then the webpage ... http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb897437.aspx <== TCP view is your friend .. oh noes, its downloaded of the internet .. microsoft spreads viruses!

I never trust a anti-virus program outright, problem with them is that if someone made a virus today, it might not be detected by the program nor any type of help until your program is updated.

It doesnt necessarily even have to be a virus....it could be a simple keylogger, pardon my cynicism.

key loggers would have to send the logged things anywhere ... TCP View will tell you what program connects where with what protocol what port etc. etc.

and i know virus programs are no "cure all", thou a good realtime scanner prevents files from beeing executed if they are suspicious ... also todays anti virus programs just dont only use virus patterns to check anymore, they also check for "suspicious actions" like logging your keys into mem / a text file, changing registry settings without user prompts etc. etc. etc.

newer version, has an inifile where you can set the check-interval in seconds and set stayontop to 1 to make it stay on top..

gonna add threadin soon so it doesnt "block" the app until words are spoken..
