Crap ... well this means i'm going to have to redefine my life's priorities!

For what it's worth, I'll stand by my assertion. 5% v2 haste is a rubbish waste of your time. Assuming you're not even meleeing and just using instruments, there are much more valuable uses of your time to include:


CC'ing for the group (as needed)
Pulling for the group (as needed)
Feeding mana to the casters who might need it
Giving overpowered regen to the whole group
Resists or DS songs
Standard haste/buffs/younameit

Or any combination of the aforementioned.

Groups at that range are rarely limited (from an xp or loot vs time standpoint) by the groups kill speed. What they are limited by is speed of spawns, speed of pulls, and healer/support mana (and down time related to this).

v2 haste might be worth it if you're rocking epic and don't have to instrument swap AND already have a shaman or ench to give primary haste AND everyone is sitting around at full mana 24/7 ... but even then you'd probably kill faster by just being out there helping to pull with such an ideal and unrealistic group.

But back to the original question. At 49 as a bard you can add a lot to a group assuming you know what to do. If you're a 1-2 song twist wonder who insists on meleeing ... you're worthless to begin with. If you have realized that your best contribution is using your instruments to add power/efficiency to the group? Yes you can do this at 49. Lute + nivs + hymn + mana pulse +/- v1 haste as needed will bring more to most casual pickup groups than adding another random 51-55 class. 49 is probably a bit low to help with CC in this zone (ideally 50+ for this job), but you can manage.

Dunno what this means. I agree, 5% v2 haste is a joke. Assuming your group is Cleric, Bard, Enchanter and 3 melee dps, you're looking at a total DPS bump of ~15%. There's lots of better things a Bard can be doing with a song than ~15% dps. Hell, he'd do more damage just meleeing instead of holding his horn, and then he can cast an additional song in the rotation.

But thread is derailed: a 49 Bard can probably get a KC group, you're not high on anyone's list of classes or levels, so it could take awhile.
