Even so, if you do get to cap, you don't need to poopsock it, there are lesser raids that are done. Of course you can always roll an alt at that point too, view the game from a different perspective. Such as if you really like necro, and cap a necro on blue, a good alt may be an SK to Necro, and even in an opposite good/evil alignment that you played your necro up in (e.g. Ak'Anon vs Neriak etc).
Do guilds still do raids in like... plane of hate and fear and stuff?

I've done both and the RP and general attitudes of strangers on blue is nice... If you want to really dig into the pixel accuracy of mob pathing, conduct long grinds of solo/duo camps, analyze mob behavior & AI programming, meet an occasional beautiful mind player who has spiral notebook after spiral notebook of drop rates locations and dungeon/mob info, then blue is the place to be.

When I moved from blue to red, I was shocked at the number of people who didn't know how to navigate some of the most classic content and fight in the most optimal spots with the best strats. Basically people loved to group with me cus I could take them to any camp and break any room anywhere...

If you come to blue, mostly what people will be happy you contribute to their night of xp will be stories of how weird red99ers can be.

Casual raiding guilds, yeah they raid around.

80 page binder detailing ranger class, map locals, drops, stats etc etc. Kept it up through launch to kunark. A few Velious entries later. Here I just use my tablet.

/pokes his map binders.
/pokes his Velious era spellbook.

I mean, I mostly just alt tab when I need to look something up. But the maps are quite handy having printed out still.

Well back then you know, full screen and dial-up modems [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
Especially the modem play, not like now where we can just have no problem watching even netflix while we play [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
So printing was a good idea back then.

Indeed. I can't imagine browsing the internet for information on dial-up even if I could have alt tabbed back then. My printouts still come in handy. Although my husband looked at me like I was nuts when I tore our house apart trying to find my physical spellbook.

Then again, he thinks I'm insane when I grin every time I die horribly somewhere... He just doesn't understand EQ.

I grin when other people die. I guffaw, I smirk, I chortle. Actually, I think other people dying in EQ is probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life. That's why I make a terrible healer - conflict of interest.

As a healer, I've always found it more fun to see their reaction seconds before death, down to 2-3% and they start trying to run down the hall before they realize they're already at near full health. Or even in some cases, and especially I could do this on live with my old cleric, to time it just right that they get the heal a fraction of a moment ...after they dropped [You must be logged in to view images. Death is too quick... the joy is watching them need to change their shorts time and time again. Hey, and anyway, when they are all at low health, the mobs care less about me [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

If you purple club enough tanks you get your photo up on the wall of the cleric guild. 2 more and I get a free sandwich.
