I never realized this until r99, but guilds like Empire are why devs have been forced to shift away from open world content. Not only do they ruin content for their own members by trivializing it with over-participation, they ruin it for everyone else who would like to experience the content as it was intended.
Why do you think Rogean ridicules you guys? Instead of being able to enjoy 15 year old content for what it is, you just throw so many people at it that the whole event takes about as much concentration as watching TV. No wonder this server feels like it is full of the emotionally disabled, drug addicts, felons, unemployable, as this whole recruit literally anyone who can click the "accept" button only appeals to and rewards those players. EQ should be like taking a roadtrip with friends, not packing 13 people into a '93 Sentra and blockading the parking lot of the Circle K til you have eaten them out of the $0.25 hot dog promo.

The amount of sour grapes that gets posted on R99 forums about how other people play the game is really incredible.

The truth is once you control the flow of pixels it is impossible to stop the apps. The guild will keep snow balling. This is why empire members worked with a GM to guild disband nihilum. Needless to say the items in the guild bank and on characters found their way to a famous online site and the staff member was ousted. Since then shady shit after shady shit has happened involving the #1 guild. The server pop for velious launch on r99 was lacking and now the peak red server pop sits between 10-15% of blue. This is a lower ratio server pop when nihilum was the top guild. You have more raid targets, more content but fewer players. Empire have made this server an unfun place to play by over recruiting and slandering any guild that tries to pvp against them and does not willingly become a feeder guild. The problem with the server pop is empire.

If the server owners don't want the game played as it currently is, they have the power to change it. They haven't, at least in any meaningful way. Their policies have created a cutthroat environment where plenty of people get "left behind." Four years of 96-hour variance (on blue) - two or three years of legal training in VP - years of experience loss and legal corpse-camping on red. If they wanted the gameplay to be different here, they could make it so; they choose not to. The rules need to support the desired behavior; you can't have a barebone set of rules and then be like "cmon guys" when things don't pan out as you'd hoped.
Also, Drakar will agree with anything that is anti-Empire, even if it completely contradicts how he previously felt on such a subject - zero credibility.
