Thanks for the info pals, Doubt I'll do much drinkin, how is the herbal scene over there?
That science museum and aquarium sound pretty bad ass.

Some other random note- how is seafood over there? I'm not lookin for fish but would love some grade A lobster.

Don't think I'll have time to meet up with any of the elf pals but I would take the chance if it was there. Thanks for the tip Uuruk lol

Tassador you are one bitter pleb lol, that has to be the I dunno 25th post of some bitter shit I read part of? Long story short, I'm well traveled and on my path, I've found that locals usually are the best source of information about an area. thanks for your concern

Its true if you want to see tourist traps and tourist sites check the net. If you really want to see fun unique things while your in a place talk to the locals. Good advice here will try to memorize those places for when I take a trip north. Always nice to see threads like this that have value.

We seem to have a lot of east coasters, I'm lookin for some info. I'll be brief.

Taking a trip to the east for a couple of weeks, going to be in New York City for a few days, what should I see?

Also, will be spending most of the time at my gfs parents place in Connecticut, anything interesting in that area?

As of now I'm pretty much just going to see a show and checking out some museums. So I'm pretty open to any other ideas the locals might have. Not too interested in the classics: Statue of Liberty ect.

Thanks

godbless
make a list of things you know about New York. don't visit any of those things or places. instead go to queens and walk around and eat good food and talk to people.

ur welcome.

Avoid times square. Nothing to see there and everything is incredibly overpriced.

Head down to canal street and have lunch in little Italy. Can walk down to china town and check out all the vendors and see some interesting ass people. Check out Korea town in queens, Astoria is a nice place to hit up as well.

If you've never been to NYC then walking on 5th avenue could be cool. Or hit up Ave of the Americas.

Take a helicopter ride at south ferry around the city.

Head to a dive bar in Williamsburg and get PBR for 2 dollars a can and get your dick sucked by a hipster sloot

Check out a game or a show at MSG. It's crazy how fucking big that place is. Watch a nets game at barclays center

Rockafella center is pretty nice if you have a chick to come with you

Try to avoid eating in Manhattan unless you wanna have lunch or dinner in little italy. Brooklyn/Queens has the same quality for half the price

Katz deli is the real deal. Momofuku is banging. Applewood is fucking amazing. Frankies Spuntino, Di Fara's, Peter Lugers etc etc. Hit up BaoHaus and get a pork belly on a bao while listing to some wu-tang clan play on the speakers

Check out Arthur Ave in the Bronx

Head down to St.Marks place and buy some weed from a homeless dude and people watch

I'm not an herbalist myself, however between Boston College, Boston University, Harvard, MIT, NorthEastern, Suffolk, and Berklee School of Music, I'm sure you won't have a hard time finding anything you're looking for. That and the decriminalization here in Boston make it pretty available, I'm sure.

Also, I think there are a couple Symphonies going on this time of year in Boston - Boston Pops is particularly popular, as is the Slut Cracker Burlesque show. I think the Trans-Siberian Orchestra may also be in town?

I am not sure what you're dining budget looks like, but as with all major cities, it scales greatly. Neptune Oyster in the North End is arguably one of the best places to go, however it's at the higher end of the price range and they don't take reservations. If you're looking for something like Italian (think scallops, shrimp, calamari, clams, mussels over linguini) then you definitely want to do Giacomo's in the North or South End (2 locations, South-End being less crowded). They are probably the most fairly priced (~$15-$20/plate) in the area and have bottles of wine for $20. However, they also don't take reservations. I've tried slipping the hostess a hundo to let me skip the line and she wasn't having it. Either they pay her obscenely or integrity is her biggest vice - disgusting really. Moral of that story, is there is typically a line and you will have to wait (outside...in December...).

Few other honorable mentions for seafood -
Abe and Louie's / Atlantic Fish Company on Boylston in Back Bay - Expensive but one hell of a lobstah. If you go to AFC get the Seafood Sampler entree and split it with your wife.
Eastern Standard / Island Creek on Commonwealth in Fenway/Kenmore - Also expensive - great oysters.
Bay Bay Social on Boylston in Back Bay - is solid for Oysters on Sat/Sun because they are $1 and right off the docks.
Barking Crab on/in The Waterfront (that's an area) - solid brunch, too.

So far the best lobster I've found is going to Market Basket and picking up a Lobster for $5/lb and cooking it at home. But, if I did order one out, I'd probably get it at Abe and Louie's.

Sushi:
Oishii - High-End Specialty rolls/trendy atmosphere
Oya - over-the-top gourmet
Q Restuarant - relaxed atmosphere, good rolls, moderate price
Duozo - trendy/moderate pricing.
Google them according to what you're looking for.

And, as a tourist, you have to do Top-of-the-Hub. It's on the highest floor of the Prudential Building in the middle of the city. You can see all of Boston from here.

Ya Ella, I live in Boston for the time being. Lived here most my life. I move around a lot. My job gives me the liberty to be picky as fuck. I'm interviewing with several places in central Florida at the moment and one is tabling an offer, so I'll probably be out before the EOY.

Fame, I'm here now but my family is coming to visit this weekend so I won't have much time to be out an about with them crashing at my place. As far as the herbs go, its hit or miss. You are not going to see the steady quality you see in the AK, but also, some of the shit here is a lot more potent. Also they don't dry the leaves here like they do in AK so don't be surprised when you see just pure buds without leaves.

umbrella named a few good places, but he hit the nail on the head. Its gunna be pretty expensive wherever you go in boston. There are some nice burger joints in cambridge that boast some of the best burgers in new england that won't break your wallet. there is a lot of stuff to do. just stay out of the worcester area. thats my hometown. its the mos eisely of Taxachusettes
